Day 5

@meijer Hey! That time that I worked for you as a third-shift weekend janitor? Well, those are five weeks of my life I'll never get back.

It's true. My hours were 11pm to 7am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I think I called in sick once per weekend, and usually on Saturday, so as to break up the work week(-end). Along the way, in addition to the $6.25/hour (extra $.25 for third-shifters!!1!), I developed an encyclopedic knowledge of Meijer's weekly sale items and a deeper appreciation of sleeping during the night on weekends.

Sometimes I would see people I knew while I was working: them with their chips and salsa and beverage of choice, me with my dust broom and nametag and awkwardly fitting red polo shirt. Later, they would remark that I looked sad. Well, that's because I was sad.
